In this Speaker Series Recording we join Alan Abeyta, CPF of Framin’Works as he discusses how to achieve dynamic frame designs with the addition of paint.
He will discuss how to get started with painted bevels, using acrylics, foils, and hydro dipping; before moving on to painting actual frames.
Alan will cover the steps need to prepare for the use of acrylics for washes, and airbrushing while using products from Krylon and Montana brands. Then he will cover how to these painting techniques are used to create custom designs; finishing up with the final touch by using Krylon 2k or 4k clear, satin, flat or gloss as a top coat.
Alan began his framing career when he took a job at a frame shop while earning his undergrad degree in graphic arts from the Colorado Institute of Art. In March 1996, he purchased Framin’Works of Arizona and in January 2021 added the Best Lil’ Frame Shop in Scottsdale. In July 2023, Framin’Works was named Best Frame Shop by Phoenix Magazine.
Alan is a long time PPFA supporter by serving on the Competition Board, Certification Board, and as a presenter at local/regional events.
