Considerations for Mounting, Framing, and Preservtion of Textiles
We join Meredith Wilcox-Levine a Textile Conservator from the Textile Conservation Workshop in this Speaker Series Session. She provides insight from a conservator’s point of view on textiles of sentimental and historic value.
As part of this discussion Meredith imparts her knowledge on the safe and proper handling of textiles in the context of mounting and framing. The basics of textile properties and production are also included to further the understanding of these problematic pieces. Discussions concerning the storage and environmental conditions, suggested mounting techniques, materials and when to consult a conservator are addressed.
